THE LOCAL NOTE · ORIGINAL GUIDE
A beach postcode is not a dog-access pass.

The Northern Beaches offers many places to walk, but rules can change from one reserve, track or stretch of sand to the next.
Start with the official map
Use Northern Beaches Council’s dog-area information to check the precise location, then follow current signs on arrival. Do not assume an adjacent beach is included because a reserve allows dogs. Trials can have particular boundaries and time windows.
Tell your walker what you expect
Agree on whether your dog stays on lead, which locations are acceptable and how transport works. If a provider proposes group outings, ask how dogs are matched and what happens if yours needs space. A familiar park name alone does not tell you how the session will be run.
Have a simple change-of-plan rule
Discuss alternatives for heat, storms, closures or an unexpectedly busy area. Decide whether the session moves to a quieter location, becomes a shorter visit or is rescheduled. Make sure you both understand how those changes affect the service and fee.
